The computer room at Ixopo High has leapt forward into the digital age with a complete upgrade of its equipment and resources. We have entered into partnership with IT Schools Intellect and plan to deliver a top quality IT based education to all pupils. We would like all learners leaving the school to be computer literate.
What IT School Intellect offers?
IT School Intellect has developed a full spectrum of specially adapted high school computer curriculum, which cover the ICE (International Computing Essentials) and is aligned with the ICDL (International Computer Drivers License). All pupils write On-Line examinations.		Technikon endorsed high school I.C.T certification is given to registered learners on completion of on-line exams. Learners will gain financial and educational credits at one of the partner Technikons across the country, when the learner plans to further their education.
Benefits to the learners: The learner leaving Ixopo High School should have industry and internationally recognised skills that will ensure that they are absorbed into the work place or tertiary institutions with confidence and legitimacy. The variety of courses offered enable learners to use this as a stepping-stone towards further IT studies.

Courses offered over the full five years: The ICDL modules (which include) Basic concepts of IT Using a computer and Managing files Word Processing, Spreadsheets Databases, Presentations Information and Communication Ixopo High School is a ICDL registered training centre. This allows the learners to obtain an internationally accepted qualification before they leave school.

The main computer room consists of 38 work stations which have full multi-media capabilities and run on Windows XP. Our backbone for this network is provided by a dual processor server and 100 bit network cabling and hubs.

Our learners are exposed to a wide variety of programmes like the Microsoft Office Suite, Frontpage, Publisher, Encarta Reference Library, Terragen, Visual Basics Studio and Pastel Accounting and Flash.

Each of our pupils are provided with their own unique e-mail address and have access to the Internet. In our pursuit to provide a well rounded education we have equipped the computer room with the following devices:-

DVD Drive	This is used to show movies every Wednesday afternoon
Web Camera	This is used for video capture and web conferencing
Scanner	To digitize pictures for projects etc
Digital Camera	To capture all sporting and academic events that take place at the school.
Interactive Whiteboard	Used as a teaching aid for demonstration purposes
Projector	Used to project what is on the teachers computer onto the interactive whiteboard
We have also purchased very useful programs
Synchron Eyes	Allows us to monitor student progress and directly edit data on the students computer. This program also allows us to broadcast the teachers computer screen to the students and lock their computers when their full attention is required.
Quiz Wizard	This program allows us to generate quizzes that are automatically marked by the computer - Very useful tool.

We are currently developing a second computer room. There will be 36 computers in this room. It will be used by other teachers to teach their subject content.
